Developing Sustainable Organizations and Practices
The challenge we now face in the business world and in society in general is to create more sustainable enterprises as part of larger thriving ecosystems. Specifically, this means being more effective in the utilization of energy and resources and developing organization designs which focus on economic, environmental and social bottom lines.
This can be achieved through:
- Utilizing the process of design in our business and societal ecosystems in order to arrive at enhanced ways to create value and achieve increased efficiencies in the use of resources;
- Being innovative in utilizing new technologies to achieve our desired purposes;
- Creating collaborative ways of working across multiple cultural and organizational boundaries and disciplines to address the required changes;
- Thinking critically about outdated assumptions and developing new behaviors to match new assumptions and goals;
- Building on existing strengths while developing new capabilies; and
- Becoming both teachers and learners - both young and old as we develop increased eco-literacy.
